I would check your seal and bearings if you got water in there. It had to get in somehow. Let it run out into whatever you put under it. You might also want to take the case cover off once it's drained to inspect the chain and make sure the chain tensioner bolt is nice and tight.

I usually lay down on the left side (brakes clutches etc.) and there might be a cap type thing that needs to be removed to get to the drain... mines just a hole now. I use cats oil turbo oil and filter. Filter can be taken off with out removing exhausts or anything. WebbReplace and tighten the drain plug. If there is no drain plug on your chaincase, you should remove the fill plug. Grab a manual oil extractor and insert its tube into the fill hole. Push it toward the bottom of the chaincase, but try to avoid the chain and the gears. Extract as much oil as you can.

This Corelates nicely to 75W-90 Gear oil. ?w-40 engine oil is about the same Viscosity as well.
